Art & Adventure

The great outdoors. The beauty of life lies in nature. Both the environmental kind and the human kind. May we always see it with open eyes, know its worth, appreciate it, protect what deserves protecting, be connected to it and each other, and, most of all, give it love.

Plein Air Painting

Plein air painting is about leaving the four walls of your studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists.

Their desire to paint light and its changing, ephemeral qualities, coupled with the creation of transportable paint tubes and the box easel—the precursor to the plein air easels of today—allowed artists the freedom to paint “en plein air,” which is the French expression for “in the open air.” - artistsnetwork.com

Nature Photography

When Kate isn’t drawing, she’s exploring. With a camera in hand and the ability to sniff out adventure, she sets herself up in some of the most remote corners of the world to photograph and collect inspiration for our studio. Being artists we all have a love and respect for the landscape and how we capture it, sometimes with some paints and other times with a click.

Retreats

We are hoping to share our adventures soon with some art retreats we are creating, commencing mid to late 2019. Please contact us if you wish to learn more or would like to recommend a location.
